In an ideal world, each yard would enjoy palatial dimensions and have no trouble fitting a swimming pool. Unfortunately, this isn't a situation that all business owners are lucky enough to deal with, but having a smaller outside space doesn't mean that you need to give up on your dream of having a pool.
1. Go for Vinyl or Concrete
As a general rule, people with smaller yards are going to be better off using a pool made from vinyl liner or concrete rather than fiberglass. The problem with fiberglass is that these pools usually come in a limited selection of sizes and shapes; even if you can find one that works, you might have to pay more or you're going after a usual specification. A pool that hasn't been built to your precise specifications might not work well with the limited space you have to work with. concrete pools can be whatever shape you want.
2. Consider A Kidney-Shaped Pool
An understandable concern when fitting a pool in a smaller yard is losing too much space. You'll still want enough room around the pool to place a sun lounger or two and probably a couple of chairs and a table, so you might think about using a kidney-shaped pool. You will lose some water space, but you'll also be providing more room around the pool.
3. Place One Side of the Pool Against the Fence
The vast majority of pools are made to be accessible from all sides, but this isn't a rule that needs to be followed. Though it might be nicer to have all sides free, it really makes sense to position one side of your pool against your fence or against the wall of your home. You'll still have plenty of entry points, but you'll have fitted in your pool in a more sensible way. Instead of having a small edge of free space around the whole pool, you'll have one larger part to work with one or a couple of sides.
4. Fit a Lap Pool
If you really need to be able to swim back and forth in your pool instead of simply soaking up the rays with water around you, installing a lap pool is a no-brainer, and they can also be perfect for dealing with smaller yards. Long and thin, lap pools are perfect for square or rectangular yards since they can be positioned right up against the end away from the house.
