With your Amazon Fire TV Stick, you can watch movies and TV shows over your internet connection without the need for a cable subscription. With the options for almost all video streaming services available on the market, you can easily meet all of your video needs.
Of course, browsing the user interface is only possible if you have the ability to control your TV. So if your remote control has been eaten by the dog, you may feel that all hope has been lost. Don't despair, there are many ways to bypass a lost remote, whether you need something right away or have the time to order a replacement. Let's look at four different ways you can use your Fire Stick without a remote control. Contact fire stick service if you find any difficulty following the steps.
USE THE FIRE STICK REMOTE APP
The easiest way to bypass a lost or broken remote is to use Amazon's Fire TV app, which allows you to control your Fire Stick without the physical remote. The Amazon Fire TV app is available for both iOS and Android and offers you all the controls you get with a standard remote control.
You can also use your phone's keyboard and microphone to search for movies and TV shows. Our Fire Stick Customer Service Number experts can teach you how to use the virtual remote. Read more on fire stick support website for advanced help.
USE A CEC-COMPLICATED REMOTE CONTROL
If your TV (or universal remote control) was made after 2002, it may be CEC compliant. CEC-compatible remote controls can control hardware from any manufacturer that complies with the CEC standard (part of the HDMI standard for device interoperability). The controls are simple, but can be enough to keep you up to date. You need to activate the CEC setting on your TV. The option can be found in the "Settings" menu of the TV. Unfortunately, most TV manufacturers don't call it CEC, but "brand" it with their own invented and meaningless label. Here is a list of the most popular TV brands and the name they got with the CEC function:
1. AOC: E-Link
2. Hitachi: HDMI-CEC
3. LG: SimpLink or SIMPLINK
4. Mitsubishi: NetCommand for HDMI
5. Onkyo: RIHD
6. Panasonic: HDAVI Control, EZ-Sync or VIERA Link
7. Philips: EasyLink
8. Pioneer: Kuro Link
9. Runco International: RuncoLink
10. Samsung: Anynet +
11. Sharp: Aquos Link
12. Sony: BRAVIA Sync
13. Toshiba: CE-Link or Regza Link
14. Vizio: CEC
Activate CEC (by whatever name) on the TV, connect your Fire TV Stick normally, and you should be able to both set up and control your Fire TV Stick using the TV remote control. You do not have access to the voice control functions of your device, but you can use the navigation controls on the TV remote control. Also, read our guide on fire stick frozen issues.
