How to measure the length of spiral steel pipe

Spiral steel pipe is a welded pipe made of strip steel coil as raw material, extruded at regular temperature, and welded by automatic double-wire double-sided submerged arc welding process. Mainly used in water supply engineering, petrochemical industry (octg casing), chemical industry, electric power industry, agricultural irrigation, urban construction, etc. The spiral steel pipe sends the strip steel into the welded pipe unit, and after rolling by multiple rollers, the strip steel is gradually rolled up to form a circular tube blank with an opening gap. Adjust the reduction amount of the squeeze roller to control the gap between the weld seams at 1~3mm, and make the two ends of the weld joints flush.

1. Improved encoder length measurement:

This method is a direct measurement method, by measuring the distance between the two end faces of the steel pipe and their respective reference points, the initial position is zero, and the distance is L. Then move the length of the editor to the walking distance (L2, L3) of the ends of the respective steel pipes, L-L2-L3, directly measure the length of the steel pipes, and set up a length-measuring trolley at both ends of the steel pipes, which is the length of the steel pipes. This method is easy to operate, the measurement accuracy is within ±10mm, and the repeatability is ≤5mm.

2. Camera length measurement:

Camera length measurement is the use of image processing to complete the length measurement of steel pipes. Add a light source and a camera to the other section, when the steel pipe passes through this area. The principle is to install a series of photoelectric switches at equal intervals on a certain section of the steel pipe conveying roller table, and the length of the steel pipe can be determined according to the position of the photoelectric switch at a certain place on the screen through the image captured by the camera.

3. Grating ruler length measurement:

Two fixed-length grating rulers are installed outside the two ends of the spiral steel pipe manufacturer, and the rodless cylinder is used to drive the grating ruler near the two ends of the steel pipe, and the measurement of the length of the steel pipe is completed by using the interference phenomenon of light.

4. Encoder length measurement:

The principle is to install an encoder at the oil cylinder, and the spiral tube uses the oil cylinder to push the steel pipe to move on the roller table, and install a series of photoelectric switches at equal intervals on the other side. When the steel pipe is pushed by the oil cylinder and the end of the pipe touches the photoelectric switch, the stroke of the oil cylinder is converted from the recorded encoder reading, so that the length of the steel pipe can be calculated.
