What is line pipe
Line pipes are pipelines used to transport gas, water, and oil. Line pipes include seamless pipes and welded pipes. Seamless pipes refer to pipes made without welds. They have high strength and excellent corrosion resistance, performance and better overall performance. Welded pipes are steel pipes made of steel plates or strips that are curled and welded. The pipe ends of line pipes include flat ends, threaded ends and socket ends; the connection methods are end welding, coupling connections, socket connections, etc.
Line pipe applications
Line pipes are mainly used to transport liquid and gaseous fuels and raw materials such as oil, natural gas, and water. Because these substances require very high sealing performance, line pipes are a kind of transportation for transporting raw materials to oil and natural gas companies. Tools. Of course, the emergence of pipeline pipes has greatly reduced the waste and pollution of raw materials during transportation, increased the work efficiency of businesses and improved product quality, so pipeline pipes are an ideal transportation tool.
Classification of pipeline pipes
Line pipes are generally divided into two types according to the connection method. One is seamless welding. This welding method ensures tightness during transportation to the greatest extent, but the flexibility is not high, because once the welding is completed, it is very difficult. It is difficult to change the direction of transportation, so maneuverability is very poor. It is necessary to plan the route in advance. The other is seam welding. The steel pipe welded in this way can be cut and changed according to needs. The disadvantage of seam welded pipe is its tightness. Relatively poor. Users should purchase based on current needs.
The size and diameter of line pipe required for a pipeline may vary depending on the amount of gas or liquid the pipeline is to carry and the pressure the line pipe must withstand. For example, in most cases, a mainline (the main pipeline that carries natural gas) will require a pipe diameter of approximately 16 to 48 inches. Smaller pipelines that carry natural gas to or from the mainline may be constructed from line pipes ranging from 6 to 16 inches in diameter. One can determine the necessary diameter required for a pipe by considering the volume of gas or liquid the pipeline will transport and the pressure at which the gas or liquid will be transported. Line pipe thickness requirements are determined by the maximum operating pressure required by the pipeline. Following proper safety regulations when selecting and installing line pipe will ensure proper operation of the pipe and prevent hazardous situations.
