For stainless steel precision tubes, the roughness of the outer surface is generally required to be Ra≤0.6μm, and the roughness of the inner surface is required to be Ra≤0.8μm;
If there are higher requirements for the pipe, the roughness of the inner and outer surfaces can be further reduced to Ra≤0.4μm and Ra≤0.6μm.
Effect of surface roughness on pipe performance:
For seamless stainless steel pipes, the impact of surface roughness on its performance is mainly reflected in the following aspects:
1. Air tightness: Excessive surface roughness will lead to poor sealing of the pipe, and gas or liquid will leak through the gaps between the contact surfaces, thus affecting its use effect.
2. Abrasion: Surface roughness has a direct impact on the abrasion of the pipe. If the surface is smoother, the friction on the pipe will be smaller, and the degree of wear will be smaller.
3. Hygiene: Surface roughness will affect the hygienic performance of the pipe. If the surface is smoother, it will be harder for dirt and bacteria inside the pipe to adhere, thus improving the hygienic performance of the pipe.
4. Fatigue strength: There are large troughs on the rough surface, which is very sensitive to stress concentration, thus affecting the fatigue strength.
5. Corrosion resistance: A rough surface can easily allow corrosive gases or liquids to penetrate into the inner layer of the metal through microscopic valleys on the surface, causing surface corrosion.
6. Measurement accuracy: The surface roughness of the measured surface of the pipe and the measuring surface of the measuring tool will directly affect the accuracy of the measurement, especially in precision measurement.
