What is ASTM A53 Schedule 80 ERW Welded Pipe?

ASTM A53 Schedule 80 ERW Welded Pipe is a type of carbon steel welded pipe that conforms to the ASTM A53 standard, features a thicker wall, and is manufactured using a high-frequency electric resistance welding process. Its core characteristic is achieving high pressure resistance and high mechanical strength at room temperature using economical processes and materials, providing a more economical solution than seamless pipe and a stronger solution than standard wall thickness pipe.

ASTM A53: General-purpose carbon steel pipe standard, covering both welded and seamless processes.
Grade B: Carbon steel material grade, yield strength ≥ 240 MPa. There are two grades: A, B, and C. Grade B is the most widely used grade in the standard, providing good basic strength and toughness.
Schedule 80: Wall thickness grade, representing "thicker wall," suitable for medium and high pressure conditions, providing higher bending strength and pressure resistance. The Sch 80 wall thickness is approximately 30%-100% thicker than the Sch 40 standard pipe.
