Why I switched from smoking
Six years ago, I decided I’d had enough of smelling like an ashtray and waking up with lungs that felt like they’d run a marathon without telling me. Quitting cigarettes wasn’t easy, but vaping helped me ditch the habit for good. What started as a hopeful experiment turned into something I actually enjoyed.
Since then, I’ve tested more vape kits than I care to admit, tried enough e-liquid flavours to rival a sweet shop, and made Tidal Vape my go-to. They’ve got everything, whether you want to keep it simple or go full tech wizard.
Today, I’m sharing my honest take on vape kits, disposables, and e-liquids. No frills, no fuss, just real experience and a bit of cheeky charm.
Vape kits I actually rate
Let’s talk proper kits. The kind you charge, refill, and don’t chuck in the bin after two days. These are my favourites from Tidal Vape, and yes, I’ve used all of them.
Voopoo Argus G3 – Sleek and pocket-friendly. It’s got a 1500mAh battery that actually lasts and gives you both MTL and RDTL options. I like the adjustable power and the new top-fill pod is much easier to use than older ones.
Voopoo Argus Z2 – If you want something even simpler but just as reliable, the Z2 is it. It still has a big battery, consistent 20W output, and inhale activation. No buttons, no drama.
Vinci Spark 220 – Alright, this one is a beast. Dual 18650 batteries, 220W power, and a light-up panel that could double as a disco. If you like a heavier vape and a screen with bells and whistles, this is your lad.
OXVA Nexlim – Thin, light, and surprisingly powerful. The Nexlim gives you 40W and a lovely adjustable airflow. Great if you like to fiddle a bit but still want something compact.
OXVA Xlim Pro 2 – Looks slick, performs even better. It has a 1300mAh battery, up to 30W output, and works with Xlim V2 pods. The side-fill is also much less messy than bottom-fill.
I always say, get a kit that suits your lifestyle. If you’re on-the-go and can’t be bothered with too much fiddling, go for the Argus Z2 or the Xlim Pro 2. Want something more powerful and customisable? The Vinci Spark is worth a look.
Disposables worth trying
Now, I’ve got nothing against disposables. In fact, when I’m heading to a festival or can’t be bothered carrying my usual kit, I grab one. But not all disposables are made equal.
IVG Pro 12 – This one is a clever hybrid. You get a 2ml pod and a 10ml refill bottle with it, giving you 10,000 puffs in total. It charges quickly with USB-C and has a mesh coil for flavour that doesn’t taste like warm cardboard.
Lost Mary Nera 30K – 30,000 puffs sounds like a joke until you actually use one. It has two modes, Normal and Turbo, and a 3D screen so you can see what’s going on. Also, it looks oddly futuristic in a good way.
Bloody Bar Ultra Twist 20K – The name’s dramatic but it is a solid disposable. Dual 10ml tanks, a 650mAh battery, mesh coil, and it works well for MTL vaping. Easy to use and surprisingly decent flavour.
Elux Cyberover 6K – If you’re into smaller disposables, this one gives you 6,000 puffs and still provides a strong MTL hit. Bonus points for the clear tank so you actually know when you're running low.
I still recommend reusable kits for long-term use. Your wallet and the planet will thank you. But if you want to try flavours or need a backup vape for the weekend, Tidal Vape’s disposables do the job.
Picking the right e-liquid
Choosing e-liquid is like picking sweets at the corner shop. Tempting, colourful, and slightly overwhelming. I’ve been through more bottles than I care to admit, so here’s my take.
1. Nic salts: Smoother hit and quicker nicotine delivery. Great for new vapers or those using lower-wattage devices like the Argus Z2 or Xlim Pro 2.
2. Freebase nicotine: Stronger throat hit and better for higher wattage. I use this with my Vinci Spark when I want more vapour and a bit of a kick.
3. Flavours: I’m a sucker for fruity blends and icy mints. Tidal Vape stocks a decent mix that doesn’t taste like chemicals or leave your mouth feeling weird.
And let’s not forget the IVG Pro 12 Refill Pods. If you’re using the Pro 12 kit, the refill system is quick and mess-free. They come prefilled, so you don’t have to deal with fiddly bottles or leaks.
What I tell my mates
When my mates ask how I actually quit smoking, I always point them to vaping and more specifically, to Tidal Vape. I’ve tried plenty of stores, both in person and online, but these folks know their stuff, stock quality gear, and ship fast.
I usually say:
If you’re new, grab the Argus Z2 or Xlim Pro 2
If you want to experiment with power and settings, go for the Vinci Spark 220
Need something disposable? Start with the IVG Pro 12 or Lost Mary Nera 30K
Don’t waste your money on random liquids. Tidal’s range is wide but consistent, and you’ll always get good flavour Their site is also easy to use. None of that "add to basket but it’s out of stock" nonsense.
Final thoughts before you go
Vaping changed my life and I don’t say that lightly. I used to be the guy standing outside pubs in the rain for a cigarette. Now I have a kit in my pocket, a bit of fruit-flavoured nic salt, and lungs that can handle stairs without protest.
Whether you're just starting or want to upgrade your gear, Tidal Vape has proper options. And if all this has you feeling a bit lost, just remember, I was once in your shoes googling “best vape UK” at 2am.
Save yourself the hassle. Start with the kits I mentioned, pick a flavour you like, and vape on. And if you ever see a bloke grinning with a Voopoo in one hand and a flat white in the other, that’s probably me.
Cheers.
