CBD flower (also called hemp flower) is gaining popularity for both its benefits as well as the flexibility it provides to users. Unlike other CBD products like lotions and CBD gummies, which have very specific uses, CBD hemp flower is extremely versatile and can be used in a variety of ways.
Read on to learn how you can easily incorporate CBD flower into your daily life.
What is CBD Flower?
CBD flower is a bud from the hemp plant that provides users with a quick, easy way to ingest CBD with very little (0.3% or less) THC. CBD flower is cultivated specifically by cannabis growers to provide consumers with the benefits of cannabis without a mind-altering “high” experience.
Ways to Use Your CBD Flower
1. Smoke it: pre-roll, pipe, dry herb vape
You can smoke CBD flowers the same way you’d smoke any other type of cannabis flower. Simply grind the flowers, then either roll them into a joint or place them in a pipe to experience relief and relaxation without getting high.
**Note: The following uses of CBD flower require it to be decarboxylated before use, to get the maximum benefits.
Decarboxylation refers to the process of heating cannabis to activate the cannabinoids within its buds, trim, leaves, or kief. While in its raw (unheated) state, hemp contains phytocannabinoids. When these phytocannabinoids are heated, they convert into cannabinoids (like CBD, CBG, CBN, etc.) that interact with the body’s endocannabinoid system to produce the beneficial effects for which CBD is known.
The decarboxylation process is simple:
-Preheat your oven to 325°F
-Line a baking sheet with parchment paper
-Grind your CBD flower and spread it evenly on the paper
-Bake for 35 minutes
2. Make your own CBD oil/tincture
While there are plenty of CBD oils available for purchase, why not have a little fun by making your own customized oil in your kitchen? This allows you to concentrate the effects of your favorite strain in a compact tincture bottle. The process is fairly simple, and you can find helpful videos and instructions online.
3. Get creative with CBD edibles
You can cook up all sorts of delicious edibles with your CBD flower. The base ingredients below will help expand your culinary possibilities:
-Seasonings – a great addition to any meal, just sprinkle on your favorite homemade CBD seasoning and savor the effects. It’s as easy as adding decarboxylated CBD flower to your favorite rub or spice blend.
-Infused butter or cooking oil - CBD is fat soluble, which means it breaks down and is stored in fat. This is why recipes often call for cannabis-infused oils or butters as the means of incorporating CBD into your food. A quick internet search will turn up step-by-step recipes for making your own infused cooking oil or butter.
-Honey – a sweet way to combine the benefits of both CBD flower and honey. Choose raw, local honey if available. A perfect sweetener for CBD tea! If you don’t care for honey, the same technique works with other natural sweeteners like maple syrup.
4. Make your own CBD lotion
Because topical CBD products bought from CBD shop in San Antonio are rubbed onto specific areas of the body, they have become popular as a way to target and relieve daily aches and pains. Making your own CBD lotion using CBD flower gives you control over the process, so you can experiment with different ingredients to create a formula specific to your needs. And it only takes a few ingredients to get started!
5. Steep your own CBD tea
CBD flowers are a great natural addition to any type of tea. Simply prepare your favorite tea (bag or loose leaf) as usual, adding your desired amount of decarboxylated hemp flower in an infuser. Let steep 3-5 minutes, then enjoy.
The following types of tea may be useful for certain health conditions:
-Peppermint (for upset stomachs)
-Chamomile (for reducing discomfort and promoting sleep)
-Black or Green (for increased energy or to get rid of a headache)
6. Create at-home CBD bath bombs or bath salts
Did you know CBD bath bombs are super easy to make at home? With just a few ingredients, you can customize your own CBD bath bomb – and the terpenes and minor cannabinoids naturally present in hemp buds can provide added benefits, taking your tub soak to the next level of relaxation. The easiest way to create your own CBD bath bomb is to simply grind up some decarboxylated hemp flower and pop it into your mixture; alternatively, you can also make your own CBD oil from hemp flower and use that in your recipe.
