Electrochemical or chemical reactions will occur on the exposed metal surface, which will be uniformly corroded. The parts with weak corrosion resistance in the purified film on the surface of the welded pipe will form pitting reactions due to self-excited reactions and form small holes. Coupled with the proximity of oxygen ions, a strong corrosive solution is formed, which accelerates the rate of corrosion reactions. In addition, intergranular corrosion occurs inside the welded pipe, resulting in cracking. All of the above have a pulverizing effect on the purified film on the surface of the welded pipe.

Therefore, regular maintenance is carried out on the surface of the welded pipe to ensure its clean surface and prolong its service life. When washing the surface of the welded pipe, care must be taken to avoid surface scratches; it is forbidden to use bleaching powder, washing liquid containing abrasives, grinding tools for steel balls, etc.; to remove excess washing liquid, rinse the surface with clean water after washing.

When there is dust on the surface of the welded pipe and the pollutants are easy to remove, it can be washed with a weak ion detergent, or it can be scrubbed with alcohol or organic solvents (ether, benzene).

There are grease or lubricating oil pollutants on the surface of the welded pipe. After wiping it with a soft cloth, wash it with a neutral detergent, ammonia solution or a special detergent. When bleach and various acids are attached to the surface of the welded pipe, rinse it with water immediately, and then soak it with ammonia solution or neutral carbonic acid and water solution, or wash it with neutral detergent or warm water.

When there is rainbow pattern on the surface of the welded pipe (caused by excessive use of detergent or oil), it can be washed away with warm water and neutral detergent when washing. When there is rust caused by pollutants on the surface of the welded pipe, it can be washed with 10% nitric acid or abrasive detergent, or it can be washed with special detergent.

Note: The seamless pipe must wear labor protection articles before pickling. A detailed inspection should also be carried out on the working environment on site, mainly to check whether the sling of the steel pipe is intact. When pickling the seamless pipe, the pickling is mainly hydrochloric acid pickling, and the content of hydrochloric acid is generally 18% to 20%; the specification of the seamless pipe is expressed by diameter * wall thickness.
