Herceptin is a monoclonal antibody that is used in the treatment of breast cancer. It is a targeted therapy that is designed to block the action of a protein called HER2/neu. This protein is found in high levels in about 20% of breast cancer patients, and its overexpression is associated with a more aggressive form of the disease. Herceptin Biosimilar works by binding to HER2/neu and blocking its action, thereby slowing down the growth and spread of cancer cells.
Herceptin Biosimilar has been a game-changer in the treatment of HER2-positive breast cancer. However, it is an expensive drug and not accessible to all patients. Biosimilars are a new class of drugs that are designed to be similar to biologic drugs, such as Herceptin. Biosimilars are made using living cells and are similar in structure, function, and efficacy to the original biologic drug. Biosimilars are cheaper than the original biologic drug and are expected to improve access to treatment for many patients.
