Quartzite is a naturally forming stone. Originally sandstone it is converted through heating and pressure within tectonic plate movements creating an almost glass look when polished. The millions of years of constant pressure and heat create a stone that is arguably the most resistant to chemicals and natural acid. Whilst also being incredibly hard wearing due to formations of the crystalline structure. This change in characteristics is what alters the stone from a sandstone to a Quartzite.

Pure quartzite is usually white or grey in colour. Tiny amounts of materials such as iron oxide, clay and silica migrate to cause streaks and veins through the stone.
