Part-time or summer jobs are common amongst college students these days. It may be to support their academic career, to earn basic pocket money, or get experience in their respective fields. But getting a job is not as easy as one may think, many college-goers face rejections, and their qualification or score is not the reason for it. To win an interview, one must know how to answer tough and tricky questions asked by the recruiter. Interview is an elimination process, and the applicant needs to be honest yet smart with their replies which can impress the interviewer and they land them the job instantly.
If you are also planning to apply for a job anytime soon, then you need to prepare yourself soon. Our assignment help experts have listed some of the frequently asked questions and how to approach them intelligently. Read below:
Question 1- Tell me something about yourself
One of the commonly repeated questions in almost all the interviews. This may look a no-brainer, but it is way more difficult to answer this than you expect. You don’t have to start all about your hobbies or academic history. Just highlight the top three or four important achievements in your resume that can easily catch the eye of managers. Then just explain how these experiences make you eligible for the job.
Question 2- Why do you want to work here?
Recruiters want to know how much research you have done about the company. Do your homework thoroughly and make yourself aware of the values, mission, the approach of the organization. So it will be easy for you to talk in the interview and then you can easily connect these points to the position you have applied for.
This will give you an edge over other candidates as you would have knowledge not only about what the company is today but also about its future prospects. Just make sure to mention how you fit into that growth pattern.
Question 3- What is your biggest weakness?
The main motive behind this question is that employers want to figure out if you are aware of your flaws or not and how do you intend to get rid of it. Remember that no one is perfect, so be honest and tell them your weaknesses. But just make sure to highlight the silver lining, and how you are seeking an opportunity to turn them into your strengths.
Question 4- Where do you see yourself in coming years?
It is now common for students to get bored of the same job in just a few months. And, employers want to make sure you are not one of them. They want to check if they could invest their time in training you, or you are going to change your career path sooner. So don’t give them any doubt about yourself. Answer in a way that states your commitment in the field. Also, recruiters are looking for personnel who have a long-term vision and have planned their career growth efficiently.
Question 5- What are your salary requirements?
This question is ethically not allowed in some cities, but many employers ask this question very often. Make sure you have researched enough about the salary structure of the company and ensure that you get at least the minimum remuneration as issued by the authorities of the country. Always aim for the highest range based on your skills, education, and experience. There are many online sites that mention the salary range of different organizations; you can go through them. Be very clear about your pay scale and increment policy.
Question 6- Why did you leave your past job/ change career paths?
This may be a tough one, as you have to be truthful yet positive. Don’t start bashing your former company or employer, answer that you were looking for better and new opportunities instead. And, this new job can help you with that. When the question is about your changed field or career path, response how this new career choice is fit for you as compared to the previous one. Also, make sure to mention that you have the potential to use the accumulated experience with the current job. You should come across as a versatile applicant who can contribute a fresh perspective to the post.
Next time when you apply for a job or have been called for an interview, remember these tips to answer the questions, and we are pretty sure that it would prove to be beneficial for you.
