Recycled plastic outdoor rugs are among the most cost-effective, versatile, and long-lasting rugs available today. They are a cosy and appealing option for outdoor socialising because they can replicate the feel and touch of wool, cotton, and other natural materials.
We offer a stunning selection of recycled plastic outdoor rugs made from synthetic materials such as polypropylene and polyester - for a durable and versatile rug option that looks just as good indoors as it does outdoors.
WHAT MATERIAL ARE RECYCLED PLASTIC OUTDOOR RUGS MADE FROM?
Recycled plastic rugs are usually made of a combination of materials, the most common of which is polypropylene. Plastic rugs, which can withstand the UK's ever-changing weather conditions, can also be made from polyester and other synthetic materials. They are also capable of repelling moisture collection and resist mould thanks to their plastic materials.
WHAT IS A POLYPROPYLENE RUG?
Plastic outdoor rugs frequently feature polypropylene in their construction and design. Due to its strength and affordability, the material is commonly used; it is undoubtedly the most consistent material found in all plastic rugs. The material itself is produced from monomer propylene and is also often used in packaging, textiles and containers.
WHAT ARE RECYCLED PLASTIC RUGS MADE OF?
The majority of recycled plastic outdoor rugs are made from plastic bottles that have been melted, ground into a fine yarn, and then spun. Surprisingly, recycled plastic rugs have a similar softness to some cotton and wool rugs. They are suitable for both indoor and outdoor use because of this. Recycled plastic outdoor rugs are also much eco-friendlier.
ARE RECYCLED PLASTIC RUGS GOOD FOR THE ENVIRONMENT?
Short answer, yes! Recycled plastic rugs are more stain and dye resistant than natural materials like cotton and wool because they are made from recyclable materials (typically bottles).
ARE RECYCLED PLASTIC RUGS WATERPROOF?
Recycled plastic rugs are intended to be water-resistant rather than waterproof. This means that they repel water well but are not necessarily waterproof. To prevent water from entering, synthetic materials like polypropylene and nylon are tightly woven together. Although recycled plastic rugs can still get wet, this does not cause them to be harmed or lose their colour.
DO PLASTIC RUGS GET HOT?
The majority of plastic outdoor rugs have an open weave, allowing heat to pass through, circulate, and cool. Because heat is well-resisted by materials like polypropylene, the rug won't be overly warm to the touch. You won't have to be concerned about stepping on hot rugs during the warmer months because the majority of our recycled plastic outdoor rugs are made of polypropylene.
IS IT SAFE TO PLACE A Recycled PLASTIC RUG NEAR A FIRE PIT?
Although plastic outdoor rugs can withstand high temperatures without becoming warm, we don't recommend putting the rug right in front of a flame. Naturally, if the rug you buy is marked as flame-retardant, you can put it safely close to a fire pit, but we still advise placing a guard in front of the put to prevent flames from spitting onto the rug.
