How to Become an Efficient Door-Supervisor or Operator for Close-Circuit Television System

It is mandatory to complete a licensing program that is approved by SIA if you want to join the private security sector of London, as you receive training for this type of profession.

The importance of monitoring the public activities using the Close Circuit Television has increased over the past decade due to an increase in terrorising activities around the world. London has thousands of CCTV-cameras placed all over the city after witnessing an increase in terrorist attacks and there is always demand for the qualified operators of the Close Circuit Television systems. However, you cannot join this profession if you do not have the SIA license for this particular task and need to complete a training program in order to achieve this license.

The training program that you need to complete and pass with flying colours in order to join the Public Space Surveillance as a professional usually runs for three consecutive days, as SIA requires each trainee to receive at least 27 hours of training before being qualified for the license. The participants of the CCTV-Surveillance training program have to pass an examination in order to achieve the license and the training is given through three different units.

First Unit of CCTV-Surveillance Training

In this unit, the participants usually learn about the working within the Private Security Industry. You will gather knowledge on the following subjects and will learn the following skills through this unit.

2 )  In-depth understanding of the legislation with regards to the licensable activities

Second Unit of CCTV-Surveillance Training

You will learn the following skills and gather knowledge on the following subjects in the second unit of CCTV course in London.

7 )  Learn the responsibilities and roles of Close Circuit Television operators

8 )  Learn the codes of practice, guidelines and operational procedures of this type of monitoring system

9 )  Learning about the relevant legislation and its impact on Close-Circuit Television operations

10 )  Learning how to communicate within Close-Circuit Television operations

11 )  Understanding how to handle the emergency procedures within the control room

12 ) Learning the features of this type of monitoring system

Third Unit of CCTV-Surveillance Training

In the third unit of this training program, you will learn the practical operations of Close-Circuit Television equipment. In this unit, you will learn how to operate this surveillance system properly.

Training for Door-Supervisors

The SIA has another licensing program for the individuals who want to join the private security sector as the door-supervisors. The door supervision course gives you the opportunity to become a trained door-supervisor for all types of public and private buildings.

This training program is usually divided in four different units and each participant has to complete at least 30 hours of class. You will learn the working within the Private Security Industry as well as the duties of a door-supervisor through the first two units of this course. You will learn how to manage conflicts along with the physical intervention skills through this training program.
