If your aim is to join London’s private security industry, then you have to get the SIA license for the respective field of profession, as this entity regulates this industry.
In London, the SIA license gives you the opportunity to work as a security officer, door-supervisor or operator of Close-Circuit television. However, it is essential to have proper training in order to join any sector of the security industry and you can get this training through SIA approved courses. However, there are different types of training programs for different types of professions. For example, the door-supervisor training programme enables you to fulfil the roles as well as responsibilities of a door-supervisor in various sectors. On the other hand, the Close-Circuit Television monitoring system enables you to efficiently operate this monitoring system. You may become a part of this £6 billion private-security industry after completing one of these training programmes through an accredited institute.
The door-supervision training programme is more comprehensive than any other training programs for the private security industry, as the curriculum covers a variety of issues, such as the legal rules and regulations of the private security industry as well as the safe physical intervention techniques.
Hence, you are equipped to handle everything pertaining to the private security sector if you complete this training programme. However, whether you are eligible to get the SIA license or not depends upon these following factors.
1) You have to be at least 18 years of age.
2) You need to have the permission to work in UK.
3) You have to pass the door-supervisor training with flying colours.
4) You have to pass the criminal background checks and identity checks conducted by the SIA.
