Have you ever suffered from a condition where you are unable to get an erection or keep your erections during sexual intercourse? Well, if you have, then this issue is known as erectile dysfunction (ED) or male impotence. This issue is common among men all around the world, but most commonly occurs in men above the age of 40. The occurrence of ED in men above the age of 40 is about 55-60%, worldwide. This being said, ED also occurs in men who are below the age of 40. In fact the occurrence of ED in men below 40 is about 25-30%, worldwide and it is estimated that the incidence of ED in younger men below the age of 40 would be around 50-60% by the end of 2020. This is due to the unhealthy lifestyle and diet choices that people adhere to these days.
The actual cause of ED is yet unknown, but it is mostly attributed to the poor flow of blood to the penis. The enzyme responsible for this is phosphodiesterase-5, which inhibits the action of the enzyme cGMP in the body. ED most commonly is caused due to 2 major causes’ viz. Physical causes such as diabetes, hypertension, obesity, high levels of cholesterol, etc. and psychological causes such as stress, anxiety, depression, etc. Another cause for ED could be the side-effects of certain medications.
As far as the treatment of ED is concerned, there are various treatment options which are available for men to gain control over their ED problems or get temporary relief from ED during sexual intercourse. Out of the various treatment options which are widely available for men, oral ED drugs are by far the most popular and widely accepted treatment for ED.
Suhagra is one such generic drug which is widely used to fix erectile dysfunction, though not permanently but at least temporarily. The medicine contains Sildenafil Citrate as the active component, the same which is present in the brand version of the drug – Viagra. This drug is approved by the FDA for treating ED issues in men. Suhagra has proved to be an amazing result-oriented medicine over the years.
When consumed, the active component of the medicine dissolves in the bloodstream. On entering the bloodstream, it inhibits the action of the enzyme PDE5, which causes an increase in the levels of Nitric Oxide and in turn increases the production of cGMP enzyme. Due to this the blood arteries carrying blood to the penis dilate. This leads to more blood flowing to the penis which leads to stronger and harder erections.
Although, available in various doses, Suhagra is most commonly prescribed as a 100mg tablet which is to be taken once a day. It should be taken along with a glass of water. Do not crush, break or chew the tablet before consuming. Ideally, the dose of this medicine should be taken about 45 minutes before indulging in sexual intercourse. The most important thing to remember while taking this medicine is that, one should maintain a 24-Hour gap between two subsequent doses. One more important this is to never take more than one tablet or indulge in any amount of overdose while consuming Suhagra. One should keep in mind that, Suhagra is to be taken only when planning to indulge in sexual intercourse and not on a daily/regular basis.
