One quarter should be for protein food like fish, lean meat, or poultry. One quarter with whole grain such as brown rice, and the other two quarters with fruits and vegetables. Who do you know that got fat from eating fish and veggies? If you rightsize your servings, it will not look as if much food is on your plate.

The Importance of Water
Proper hydration helps in weight loss. In a study, German researchers found out that after drinking 500 ml of water, the metabolism increases by 30 percent within half an hour. By increasing your water intake, in just six glasses, you could burn an extra 17,000 calories during the course of the year.
Water also helps keep you feeling energized for the whole day, improves your performance, and is good for the skin. Having water on hand will help you from loading up on liquid calories like coffee, cappuccino, and soft drinks. Although a small amount of orange juice in the morning is good and is considered healthy, too much fruit juice could overdose you in sugar. Other sugar-laden liquids are alcohol, coffee, and cappuccino.
Did you know that a large latte with whipped cream packs between 600-800 calories? Two bottles of beer is equivalent to 300 calories? Those can easily wipe out your workout! So stick to the good old black coffee, save the alcohol on special occasions, and that mocha latte with whip cream to a minimum. Instead, drink lots of water to keep you feeling full and hydrated.
Indulge Wisely Sans the Guilt
- Remember that breakfast is king. Never skip this or you will end up hungry come midday and find yourself snacking on junk and sugary food.
- There are no forbidden food, just food choices. Your goal here is to make healthy food decisions to help overcome the greatest obstacle, guilt.
- Ice cream, chocolates, and that bag of potato chips are not bad for you if you only learn to eat them sparingly. This will help you have more room for food that deliver daily vitamins and minerals the body needs.
