You know what, forget everything that happened before this. The T20s, the ODIs, the momentum swings, all of it. Because none of that actually matters anymore. What matters is what happens at the WACA in Perth on 6th March 2026 when Australia and India walk out under the floodlights for one pink-ball Test match that decides how this whole tour gets remembered. India surprised everyone by taking the T20 series. Australia came back hard and swept the ODIs 3-0. Now we get the decider and frankly it is the best possible way to end this tour. Here is everything you need and our full AUS-W vs IND-W Test Match Prediction.

Australia Women Preview
The T20 series loss was a wake up call nobody in Australian cricket saw coming. Their own ground, their own fans, one win from three games. That is not who Australia are and everyone associated with the team knew it. The conversations that happened behind closed doors after those T20 results must have been blunt and to the point. Because when the ODIs started something had clearly shifted. Whatever was said in that dressing room worked.
They came out in game one of the ODI series and played proper cricket. Aggressive, focused and relentless. Game two was the same. Game three India just did not have an answer. Three games, three wins and suddenly the whole tour looked completely different. That is Australia at their best. They take a hit, they go quiet for a bit and then they come back twice as hard. It is a pattern that has defined this team for years and it showed up again right when it needed to.
Healy captaining this side is a real asset. She does not get caught up in the noise, she makes clear decisions and her bowlers run through walls for her. At the WACA with a pink ball that bowling attack is genuinely one of the most dangerous combinations in the women's game. Perry, Brown and the rest of them on this surface under these lights is a frightening proposition for any batting lineup in the world.
The injury situation is not perfect. Molineux has a back problem and will not play. Garth picked up a quad injury during the tour and she is out too. Two experienced names missing from a Test squad is never great but the core of this Australian side is strong enough to cover. Trenaman and Brown, both uncapped at Test level, have been added as injury cover. Neither has played a Test before so selection on match morning is going to be worth watching closely.
Australia Women Predicted Playing XI: Phoebe Litchfield, Georgia Voll, Annabel Sutherland, Alyssa Healy (C), Beth Mooney (WK), Ashleigh Gardner, Tahlia McGrath, Georgia Wareham, Alana King, Ellyse Perry, Darcie Brown.
India Women Preview
Honestly the ODI series hurt India more than just in terms of results. You could see the confidence draining game by game. The batting which looked decent in the T20s suddenly looked fragile. The bowling which had been competitive started leaking runs. And by the end of the third ODI India were just going through the motions trying to get to the finish line. That is a tough place to be in and Harmanpreet Kaur will have had her work cut out holding spirits together through that run.
Here is what is genuinely interesting about this Test though. The squad has been overhauled in a pretty dramatic way. Seven uncapped Test players. That number keeps coming up because it is hard to get your head around at first. But sit with it for a moment. Seven players who were not part of those ODI defeats. Seven players who did not stand in the field watching Australia celebrate three times in a row. They are coming into this Test completely untouched by all of that. Fresh eyes, fresh legs, fresh confidence and the kind of motivation you simply cannot fake. That combination in a Test match environment can move mountains if the captain knows how to tap into it and Harmanpreet absolutely does.
Pratika Rawal is the player India fans have been most excited about during this tour and she has given them every reason to feel that way. Returned from injury, hit the ground running in the white-ball games and showed the kind of composure that suggests she is built for the big moments rather than broken by them. A Test debut at the WACA under lights against Australia. That is not a soft introduction to Test cricket but from everything we have seen she will back herself completely.
Renuka Singh Thakur is at home resting on medical advice. She played a heavy amount of cricket through both the T20s and ODIs and the BCCI decided enough was enough before the Test. The right call. Kashvee Gautam is her replacement. Twenty two years old, never played a Test match, and standing right at the edge of something that could define her career. Kranti Gaud, Sayali Satghare and left-arm spinner Vaishnavi Sharma are also knocking hard on that door. One or all of them could be pulling on Test whites for the very first time when this match gets underway.
India Women Predicted Playing XI: Pratika Rawal, Smriti Mandhana (VC), Harmanpreet Kaur (C), Harleen Deol, Jemimah Rodrigues, Amanjot Kaur, Richa Ghosh (WK), Deepti Sharma, Sneh Rana, Vaishnavi Sharma, Kranti Gaud.
Pitch Report
People who have not watched a Test at the WACA before often get a reality check pretty quickly once play starts. The surface here does not ease you in. There is no gentle first hour where batters get their eye in and find their feet. From the very first delivery the pace is sharp, the bounce is awkward and the ball is on you before your brain has fully processed where it was heading. Experienced batters who come here for the first time almost always say the same thing in their post-match interviews. It was quicker than I expected. Every time.
Now stack a pink ball and floodlights on top of all of that. The pink ball under lights is an entirely different challenge to a red ball in daylight. It keeps its hardness for longer which means the bowlers are working with a weapon that does not dull as quickly as they might face elsewhere. It swings later, sometimes when you least expect it. It does things off the seam that look almost accidental but are anything but. Batters who have limited experience in day-night conditions often look completely undone in a way that surprises even them.
The twilight period is the moment this Test will probably hinge on. That window when the sun finally drops and the ground lights take over is where the most dramatic passages of play happen in day-night Tests. The pink ball at that time of evening is at its most dangerous. Batters are caught between two light sources trying to pick up a ball that seems to be doing something different every delivery. Whole top orders have collapsed in thirty minutes during twilight phases at venues far more batter-friendly than the WACA. Whatever happens in that window across both first innings will likely shape the final result.
Later in the evening once the lights are fully established and the ball gets older, batting does become more manageable. Run scoring is possible, good partnerships can be built and the surface offers some rewards for patience and quality. But getting to that stage in one piece is the challenge and it is one that plenty of teams have failed at this ground.
Toss Factor
Bowling first here is not just preferred it is the only logical decision any captain with knowledge of these conditions would make. Fresh surface, new pink ball, twilight period coming in the first session under lights and a ground that rewards pace and bounce above everything else. The captain that wins this toss is already in front before a single delivery has been bowled and that head start is significant in a one-off Test where there is no room to recover from a bad session. Toss is massive in our AUS-W vs IND-W Test Match Prediction and we will be watching it very closely on the morning of the 6th.
Head to Head in Tests
Total Matches: 11 Australia Women Won: 4 India Women Won: 1 Draws: 6
First Test: 28 to 30 January 1984 at Feroz Shah Kotla, Delhi. Result: Draw. Most Recent Test: 21 to 24 December 2023 at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai. Result: India Women won by 8 wickets.
Recent Test Form
Australia Women: W W L W D India Women: W W W D D
The ODI series has dominated the narrative around this tour but Test cricket asks completely different questions and rewards completely different answers. India have won three of their last five Test matches. The most recent time they faced Australia in a Test they won by 8 wickets in Mumbai and it was not particularly tense either. That result happened in December 2023 and both dressing rooms remember it very well. Test match ability is a different muscle group entirely and India have been using it very effectively in recent years.
Weather Report
Temperature: 34 to 37 degrees Celsius during the day | 22 degrees at night Humidity: 33 to 35 percent Wind Speed: 13 to 21 KPH from the South Rain Probability: 0 percent
Perth in March is about as reliable as cricket weather gets anywhere on the planet. Hot, clear and dry across all five days with zero rain anywhere in the forecast. The Fremantle Doctor sea breeze tends to roll in during the afternoon sessions and when it does swing bowlers get a little extra reward for their effort. One more reason the team bowling first holds an edge in this particular match.
AUS-W vs IND-W Test Match Prediction
Scenario 1: Australia win the toss, send India in and the seamers go straight to work on a surface built for exactly this. India dig in but are restricted to around 250 to 300. Australia come out in the second innings and knock it off. Home side wins the Test.
Scenario 2: India win the toss and do not hesitate for a second. Ball in hand, bowlers running in on a fresh WACA surface. Australia get through to somewhere between 260 and 280. India come back out and chase it down in the second innings. The tour ends on a completely different note to where it was heading after those ODIs.
Our AUS-W vs IND-W Test Match Prediction arrives at the same place no matter which way we come at it. The team that bowls first at the WACA in a pink-ball day-night Test carries a very real advantage into this match and that advantage could very comfortably end up deciding the result.
Betting Tips
Toss Prediction: India Women to win the toss and elect to bowl first. Betting Tip: Team bowling first is where the value is. Back them and you are backing the conditions.
Match Winning Percentage
India Women: 50% Australia Women: 20% Draw: 30%
Final word on our AUS-W vs IND-W Test Match Prediction. Australia absolutely deserve their status as the team that has performed better across this tour. Three ODI wins, bouncing back from the T20 series loss, playing with real character throughout. Healy has done a solid job and the WACA is genuinely their backyard. None of that is up for debate and we are not ignoring it.
But India in this Test format over the past couple of years has been a genuinely strong team. The recent record speaks for itself, this squad has an energy and freshness about it that the ODI results do not reflect and there are players in that group who are absolutely ready to step up and own a big moment. Get the toss right, use that WACA surface early and let those hungry uncapped players loose on a pitch that rewards pace and skill in equal measure.
India Women get our backing. This tour deserves a proper finish and we think they are the ones who will deliver it.
