How to prevent seamless pipe welding spatter?
Spatter is metal flying out of the molten pool during seamless pipe welding. Splashes can easily scratch seamless pipes, contaminate the protective glasses of welding helmets, contaminate the filters and frosted glass of equipment cameras, etc.
Effects of welding spatter on seamless pipes:
1. Reduce welding deposition efficiency and reduce welding productivity;
2. Spatter easily adheres to the weldment and nozzle, affecting the welding quality, worsening the welding working conditions and increasing the cleaning time;
3. The welding molten pool is unstable, resulting in defects such as rough weld shape.
Splash protection measures
1. During arc welding of seamless pipes, there is a certain pattern between the spatter rate of each wire diameter and the welding current. The spatter rate in the low current area is small, the spatter rate in the high current area is also small, and the spatter rate in the middle area is large. Therefore, when selecting welding current, current areas with high spatter rates should be avoided as much as possible.
2. The extension length of the welding wire should be shortened as much as possible, which can more effectively reduce gg welding spatter.
3. When the gas shielded welding machine uses positive polarity, since the arc is affected by the anode point pressure, the spatter increases sharply and the particles are larger, so the DC reverse polarity connection method is generally used.
4. A large inductor is connected in series in the welding circuit. When using medium-current standard gas shielded welding, due to the short arc length, the droplets and molten pool are constantly moving, and the droplets and molten pool are easily short-circuited. Therefore, in gas shielded welding, in addition to the large droplet-shaped repulsive transfer, there is also a part of the droplets that are short-circuit transfer. Connecting a larger inductor in series with the welding circuit makes the short-circuit current rise more slowly, which can appropriately reduce steel pipe welding spatter.
5. There is less spatter when the welding gun is vertically welding seamless pipes. The greater the tilt angle, the more spatter. Practice has proved that the welding gun should not be tilted forward or backward by more than 20°, and the maximum should not exceed 25°.
