Robot With a RC Transmitter and RC Receiver

Within this instructable we'll walk-through how to setup a conventional RC Transmitter and RC Receiver having a RoboClaw motor controller they are driving a robotic around (for example ServoCity.com's Runt Rovers).

Step One: Wire It Up.

Motors:

For those who have greater than 1 motor per side: wire the motors on every side in parallel

Connect the motor wires towards the screw terminals around the RoboClaw Motor Controller as proven within the diagram

Brushed Electricity motors are reversible. If a person side goes not pointed in the direction you would like simply swap the   and - wires where it connects towards the motor controller.

Receiver:

Connect the receiver towards the RoboClaw as proven. The yellow wire goes for the periphery from the RoboClaw and for the label (CH1 for instance) around the receiver.

BEC:

Check out the motor controller for just two pins labelled "LB-MB" and make certain there is a jumper across them. LB-MB means Logic Battery - Motor Battery. While using jumper implies that rather of connecting another battery to power the motor controller logic, you should use exactly the same battery that's powering the motors. This is called a BEC (Battery Eliminator Circuit).

Battery:

Prepare for connecting battery towards the motor controller, try not to hook it up at this time. Almost any small LiPo is going to do as lengthy because it matches the current selection of the motors and motor controller and it has a higher enough mAh rating to power the motors.

Step Two: Configuration

However an email about Funnel Mixing:

The x and y axis of every joystick around the transmitter each features its own funnel (this is exactly why our 2 joystick transmitter has 4 channels). We'll you need to be while using right joystick.

When we don't mix the channels then pushing the stick forward or back would drive one for reds from the robot and pushing the stick right and left would drive sleep issues from the bot. Therefore we may wish to mix channels 1 & 2 so pushing the stick forward drives each side forward, pulling back will drive both channels backwards and pushing the stick right and left will steer the robot tank style.

Step Three: Check It Out

Switch on the transmitter, then supply capacity to the motor controller and check it out!

Always TURN THE TRANSMITTER ON FIRST.

The RoboClaw will require in regards to a second to calibrate neutral position in line with the signal it's receiving in the transmitter.
