The FrSky Transmitter qx7 is a great radio for beginners and veterans and professionals to fly around their drones. With a range of features, you can buy a high-quality radio at an affordable price. But of course, like any product, there is always room for improvement or change to make it more useful or personalized for you.

This article introduces some of these modules that you can implement on the FrSky Transmitter qx7.

Battery Defense Department

This is undoubtedly one of the most useful and probably a must do mod when you receive your qx7 radio, unfortunately, the radio is not included with the battery, although you get 18650 battery trays with the latest batch of frsky Taranis qx7.

If you plan to use the 18650 battery tray, get some good high-capacity 18650 batteries, like Panasonic or Sony or LG, just put them on, and you set them up like that. Easy!

If you want to go through more difficult roads, pack grease inside, it's also quite straight forward, just make yourself a 2 or 3 grease, connect a 2S balance to its end, and connect to the radio power connector.

If you're using a 2S package, it's simple, plug and play. But if you're using 3S, you'll need to make a 2S cable to plug into the radio's battery connector.

In any case, you need to remove the battery to charge, because the radio does not have a built-in charging circuit.

Universal joint upgrade - M7

The regular Taranis qx7 is equipped with a normal potentiometer base, gimbals is - meh, OK - ish. These can wear out over time, and your rod accuracy will be lost and a bit rough - not great for racing cars who demand maximum accuracy and reliability.

That's why frsky launched the M7 gimbals for qx7. These gimbals are similar to the x9d of the M9 upgrade gimbals.

The M7 frame has a Hall effect sensor to replace the potentiometer frame in the existing frame. Over time, due to the lack of friction, they are more reliable and accurate than similar products.

To make this upgrade, all you need to do is turn on the radio, remove the four frame screws, remove the frame wire, replace it with the M7 frame cable, and then re install the frame wire and screws. That's it! For more accuracy, it is recommended that you do a gimbal calibration on your radio after replacing the gimbals.

Custom hydrodipped shells

The best way to personalize your radio is to customize the sticker or case. It's a way to stand out from the crowd and show off your cool new radio or sticker.

Bracket

You don't find it annoying that your radio has to lie flat on its back, and you're working on something, or bringing laziness to pick up an idle radio - well, we've all had that experience.

This is what the transmitter bracket does. Just like the side stand is fixed to a bicycle, this radio stand is a metal (or 3 D printer / plastic) station height handle for your radio, you can keep it at an angle and even help you stick to the radio (but you already have a handle radio: P)

They usually cost about $15, which is a bit expensive to me, but you can save money by printing one yourself in 3D, as shown in the figure below.

Stick end and switch nut

Another cool item to add to your radio is the cardan rod end and switch nut. Switch nuts are actually just for display (I mean who doesn't want to show off;)) but stick to the end for the purpose of giving you better control with a sharp stick end or you can use a lotus style that will give you more surface area, suitable for long-distance flights and freestyle swimming.
