How to get rid of bookkeeping quickly and easily

“The thing with bookkeeping tells me absolutely nothing. It is a necessary evil that must be overcome. A bit like a dental visit. I dare not give up, but it's not something I think is fun either.

Is the above something you can nod recognizably to? At least that's something I've heard many of my clients say.

But if I have to be completely honest, and I have to - then it is ME who has said that bookkeeping does not tell me anything at all…

It may immediately seem like a bad plan when I now have a company with currently 8 accountants employed. So maybe I should just elaborate on what exactly it is I mean.

Bookkeeping is a Sisyphus work: Repetition upon repetition

Have you heard of Sisyphus from Greek mythology? He is sentenced to roll a stone up a mountainside, and every time he is almost at the top, the stone rolls from him and he has to start all over again.

In general, bookkeeping and accounting have been characterized by the same kind of repetitions on repetitions of large amounts of manual work. When the day is over, the next working day goes by with almost the same work over and over again - and again.

Isn't there a solution that can do that automatically?

Every time I sit down with an accounting job, I have only one thing on my mind:

How can I find some solutions that can automatically do what I sit and do so I do not have to do it?

And believe me - I mostly manage to combine already existing technical solutions that allow many manual work tasks to be solved automatically, correctly, and really efficiently.

But actually, it is not so important that I can provide accounting solutions that are far more efficient than what one usually sees. What really makes a difference is the time YOU save!

An accounting solution that saves you time

Imagine the following:

Automatic posting of all payments from your webshop

Automatic posting of all customer payments

A solution that keeps an eye on which credit card vouchers you are missing

A solution that lets you approve and pay bills with just a touch of your smartphone

To be able to do a top-checked budget follow-up for your board in less than 15 seconds.

The list is almost endless, and the really interesting thing is that many of these items on the list can save you an incredible amount of time.

So unless you (unlike me) really love administrative work, then you may think that time can be better spent.

A powerful cocktail of existing digital solutions

With the above in mind, I'll have to talk a little bit about digitization. A topic that is talked about WAY too much.

Before embarking on new digital solutions, you should look at those that already exist.

Let me give you a few examples:

20 years ago, my financial system was able to upload a payment file to Unibank via a 56K modem

Fifteen years ago, my financial system was able to download a FIK deposit file from online banking

10 years ago I was able to download a blank file which I posted and loaded into my financial system

The above are just classic examples of good use of existing technology. It is even something that is still often overlooked to this day, and which can really provide some huge time savings.

There is already a lot of functionality built into existing financial systems, which just is not used optimally. If you combine some of the delicious automatic and digital solutions, then you can really get a powerful cocktail.
