Analysis of Energy Consumption Levels of Servo Motors

1. Classification standards for servo motor energy consumption levels

The international standard for classifying energy consumption levels of servo motors is IEC 61800-9-2.. The IEC 61800-9-2 standard divides the energy consumption levels of servo motors into four levels: IE1, IE2, IE3, and IE4.

2. Energy consumption indicators of servo motor energy consumption levels

2.1. IEC 61800-9-2 standard

IE1 grade: This grade is a traditional non-high-efficiency energy-consumption motor, and its energy efficiency index is much lower than other grades. Rated efficiency range for IE1 class is 0.50-0.80.

IE2 grade: This grade is a medium-efficiency, high-energy-consumption motor with a rated efficiency range of 0.80-0.90. The application scenarios of IE2 level are mainly medium and low load situations.

IE3 grade: This grade is a high-efficiency energy-consuming motor with a rated efficiency range of 0.90-0.95. The application scenarios of IE3 level are mainly high-load and long-running situations.

IE4 grade: This grade is an ultra-high-efficiency energy-consuming motor with a rated efficiency range greater than 0.95. The application scenarios of IE4 level are mainly situations with high load, long time operation and very high energy efficiency requirements.

3. Application scenarios of servo motor energy consumption classification

According to different energy consumption levels and energy consumption indicators, the application scenarios of servo motors are also different. Generally speaking, IE1 grade servo motors are suitable for applications with medium and low loads that do not require high energy efficiency, such as light machinery, fans, pumps, etc. IE2 grade servo motors are suitable for medium and low load applications with high energy efficiency requirements, such as conveyors, fans, water pumps, etc. IE3 grade servo motors are suitable for applications with high load and high energy efficiency requirements, such as compressors, cutting machines, stamping machines, etc. IE4 grade servo motors are suitable for applications with high loads, long-term operation, and very high energy efficiency requirements, such as chemical industry, mining, ships, etc.

The classification standards and energy consumption indicators of servo motor energy consumption levels are of great significance to users' energy conservation and environmental protection. Choosing the appropriate energy consumption grade servo motor can not only improve production efficiency, but also reduce energy consumption and bring greater economic and social benefits to the enterprise.
