ndrew Tate, 35, is facing calls for videos of him making misogynistic comments to be removed from TikTok.
Tate is no stranger to controversy, having earned infamy for his offensive remarks on social media since his brief stint on Big Brother in 2016–which also ended in scandal.
But he has enjoyed unprecedented fame in recent months, as his videos have amassed millions of views—and have caused widespread offence.
The White Ribbon charity, which aims to end male violence against women, has called Tate’s comments “extremely misogynistic” and said they could have “concerning” long-term effects on a young audience.
The charity is calling for the videos of Tate–who was previously suspended from Twitter–to be removed from TikTok.
He has also made headlines this week for offering Logan Paul a $5 million Bugatti supercar in response to his fight call-out.
But who is Andrew Tate and how did he get famous?
Who is Andrew Tate?
Andrew Tate was born Emory Andrew Tate III on December 14, 1986. He is an American-British kickboxer born in Chicago, Illinois, and raised in Luton, England.
He is the son of the late chess player Emory Tate, and his mother was a catering assistant.
Tate worked as a TV producer while training as a kickboxer, before he went on to fight professionally.
His appearance on Big Brother in 2016 kick started his life in the public eye, and since then, Tate has gained notoriety for making offensive, misogynistic comments on social media, resulting in his current TikTok notoriety.
